Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork
At Essential Medicine, massage is practiced as clinical care rather than an indulgence. Each session begins with a conversation about where your body is holding, what it is recovering from, and how you want to feel when you leave. From there the work is shaped to you, drawing on Swedish, deep tissue and orthopedic technique to release tension, restore circulation and return ease to the way you move.
Swedish Massage
A full-body session built on long, flowing strokes and steady, moderate pressure. Swedish massage settles the nervous system, encourages circulation and lifts the surface tension that accumulates from stress, long hours at a desk and restless sleep. This is the session to choose when you want to leave genuinely restored rather than worked over. Available as a 60 or 90 minute treatment.
Deep Tissue Massage
Slower, more deliberate work that reaches the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. Sustained pressure and focused technique address chronic tightness, adhesions and the long-held restriction that tends to settle into the neck, shoulders, hips and lower back. Best suited to bodies carrying tension that surface work has not resolved. A 90 minute treatment.
Orthopedic & Therapeutic Massage
Targeted bodywork for sports recovery and soft tissue repair. Your practitioner assesses the affected area first, then works directly on the tissue involved, whether that is a strained hamstring, an overloaded shoulder or a joint that has lost its range. Cross-fiber, myofascial and trigger point techniques are used to support repair, ease compensation patterns and restore mobility. A 60 minute treatment, and a natural companion to hyperbaric oxygen therapy during recovery.
What to Expect
Your practitioner will ask where you feel restricted and what you want from the hour before any hands go on. Pressure is checked as the session progresses, and you are always welcome to redirect the work. Our treatment rooms are quiet and private, with warmed tables and low light, so the session is as much about settling the nervous system as it is about the tissue itself.
Our Approach
Massage at Essential Medicine sits alongside acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, fire cupping and our infrared sauna, and sessions are often combined when recovery calls for it. If what you are carrying is fluid retention or post-surgical swelling rather than muscular tension, our lymphatic drainage massage may be the better place to begin. Whichever you choose, the aim is the same: to leave you moving more freely and feeling more like yourself.
